PARA Summer Picnic – August 14, 2021

Please join us on Saturday, August 14 for the annual PARA picnic at Black Moshannon State Park. We have reserved Pavilion #6 for the entire day. The pavilion is located at the intersection of Route 504 and the Julian Pike, overlooking the boat launch, bridge, and beach. The pavilion has 15 tables and seating for 120.

The picnic will get underway around noon. Darren and Stu are planning to arrive early in the morning to set up their HF rigs and antennas. They are going to “activate the park” as a POTA (Parks On The Air) HF radio station. Other members are welcome to bring their own rigs and join in the fun. Let’s see how many contacts we can make!

Bob will bring his very small, very quiet 1000 watt generator and a power strip to power a row of crock pots set to their WARM settings (which are typically under 120 watts).

The people contributing meat, buns, and beverages will need to know how many people are coming. If you are planning to attend, please contact Bob Snyder on or before August 7 to let him know the number of persons in your party and what food item(s) you’re planning to bring. Pets and children are welcome.
